Nurse Practitioner - Orthopaedic Shoulder Service

SUMMARY OF POSITION: Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is hiring an Advanced Practice Provider to support the shoulder and upper extremity surgery team. Prior experience as a PA or NP is desired, but willing to train motivated new grad. Must have a solid fundamental knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy. The position will focus mostly on outpatient services, pre and postop care, as well as the diagnosis and treatment plans for upper extremity orthopaedic problems. The APP will assist the surgeon in the OR one day per week. The APP will work in collaboration with a physician, as well as their own scheduled clinics. The patient population will be focused primarily on adult care. Office-based care will include evaluation and management of patients as well as office-procedures such as injections, wound care, suture removal, cast and dressing changes. On the job orientation and training will be provided in building these skills. Expected duties include (but are not limited to): * Conduct initial interview with patients and elicit a detailed and accurate history. * Perform physical examinations, record findings in the patient's medical record, and present results to physician. * Instruct, counsel, and educate patients. * Assist with or perform independently minor procedures and perform other procedures as care dictates. * Participate in quality improvement initiatives. * Collaborating with other surgical specialties, as well as other departments for continuation of care. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S): * Masters Degree in Nursing with clinical specialization required. * Two (2) years' work experience as a RN required. * Current licensed to practice as a CRNP by Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners required. * BLS certification required.
