Professional Staff Nurse, Infusion Center (Casual)
UPMC Hamot is hiring a casual Professional Staff Nurse to join the Infusion Center! The UPMC Hamot Infusion Center team is looking for an individual with strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to excel in a close-knit, team-oriented environment. This position is casual, minimum of 16 hours per pay period. Daylight shift, no holidays or weekends. Title and Salary will be determined based upon education and experience. Responsibilities: * Maintains productive relationships internally and externally. * Demonstrates accountability, enthusiasm, and commitment to patients and colleagues. * Understands cultural differences and promotes healthy relationships. * Balances work and personal life; models safe work hours and a healthy lifestyle. * Communicates safety hazards to peers and management. * Applies adult learning principles in teaching patients, families, students, and new staff. * Provides detailed teaching for effective care transitions. * Supports the development of students, new staff, and colleagues; may serve as a preceptor. * Creates an environment of open dialogue and continuous development. * Uses the nursing process to create a healing environment. * Formulates daily goals and care plans with patient involvement. * Identifies and addresses clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual issues. * Communicates patient conditions effectively to other care providers. * Ensures comprehensive patient documentation. * Incorporates professional and organizational goals to improve patient safety and satisfaction. * Builds healing relationships with patients, families, and colleagues. * Engages in professional development to improve practice and patient care quality. Participates in shared governance and goal setting. * Supports change processes to improve care quality. Engages fully as a care team partner. * Participates in quality improvement efforts. Identifies and communicates quality improvement opportunities. * Takes responsibility for improving patient satisfaction. * Utilizes research and evidence-based practice for clinical care improvements. * Discusses quality improvement opportunities at multidisciplinary rounds. Influences patient care plans. * Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: * At least two years of nursing experience. BSN preferred. * Prior Infusion experience required. * Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary for patient care and interaction. Understand principles of growth and development over the life span. * Assess and interpret patient data to identify age-specific needs. Provide care according to department policy and procedures. * Establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families. * Work productively and effectively in a complex environment. Handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment. * Exhibit good clinical judgment, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Lead others in applying the nursing process. * Demonstrate mobility and visual manual dexterity. Maintain physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: * Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. * Registered Nurse (RN) * UPMC approved national certification preferred. * Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
