Nurse Manager / Registered Nurse-Acute Care - Acute Care Unit


Our Agency The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is the state agency that focuses solely on policies, programs, and services for people with mental health challenges, substance use disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or any combination of these. As Georgia's public safety net, DBHDD operates six field offices and five hospitals throughout the state within three program areas: behavioral health, developmental disabilities, and hospital services. Georgia Regional Hospital at Savannah (GRHS) is a state-funded multi-service facility operated by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities. The hospital provides quality care to mentally ill adults and individuals living with intellectual and developmental disabilities from its 34-county catchment area in Southeast Georgia. GRHS opened in December of 1970 with a design to decentralize mental health services in the state and treat people nearer to their homes and families. The hospital provides evaluation and treatment to clients needing care. The hospital's admitting office is a psychiatric emergency receiving facility open 24 hours a day. GRHS is seeking candidates for the position of Nurse Manager- Acute Care Unit. FOR THIS TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT, STATE LAW REQUIRES A NATIONAL AND STATE BACKGROUND CHECK AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT. Job Description Plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for a unit or shift. Ensures that staff assess client health problems and needs, develop, and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. Oversees the provision and quality of nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled clients. Advises clients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provides case management. Roles and Responsibilities: * Supervises and plans work of assigned staff * Interviews and selects new hires and ensures new hires are properly trained * Administers prescribed medications, and notes times and amounts on individuals' charts * Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care plans * Modifies treatment plans as indicated by responses from the individuals and their conditions * Monitors all aspects of the individuals' care, including diet and physical activity * Monitors, records, and reports symptoms and changes in the individuals' conditions * Observes nurses and visits individuals ensure that proper nursing care is provided * Provides education to individuals and their families * Provides health care, first aid, and assistance in convalescence and rehabilitation * Participates in committees and special projects as assigned Benefits In addition to a competitive salary & benefits, the GA Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is part of a statewide initiative called Total Rewards that seeks to attract and retain employees by supplementing their base pay and benefits with programs designed to improve the quality of their work environment and lead to greater job satisfaction and work/life balance. Master's degree in nursing, nursing administration, public health or directly related field from an accredited college or university AND One year in an administrative or supervisory capacity AND current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse OR Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND Four years of experience as Registered Nurse, Two years of which in an administrative or supervisory capacity AND current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse OR Eight years of experience as a Registered Nurse, Two years of which in an environment related to the area of assignment, Three years of which as a supervisor AND current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse.
