NICU Unit Based Educator RN - Levine Children's Hospital
Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery Unit Based Educator Role Position Summary: The Unit Based Educator acts as a department clinical expert and resource while closely collaborating with nursing leaders, clinical specialists, physicians, nursing staff, and external agencies. The Unit Educator designs and implements orientation for all new hires, leads initiatives designed to enhance clinical practices, and utilizes advanced teaching methods to effectively reach the adult learner. Key Responsibilities Include but are not limited to: Designs, implements, and evaluates learning and educational programs. Assesses learning needs through formal and informal approaches to data collection to determine specific education needs. Applies teaching techniques that promote critical thinking and evidence-based practices. Conducts the onboarding process for all new nursing teammates. Plans and conducts the orientation of new graduate nurses to facilitate their transition to practice and support the organization's formal Transition to Practice program. Develops department yearly competencies based on learning needs that meet department and organizational objectives, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards. Collaborates with other departments, subject matter experts, and leaders (both internal and external) to obtain pertinent information needed to develop relevant learning to department teammates. Represents the department on unit and hospital wide committees acting as an advocate for nursing practice. Candidates must have at least 1 year of RN NICU experience, this position is not for new graduates. Registered Nurses at Atrium Health have the ability to grow in their profession through the Clinical Nurse Credentialing Pathway (CNCP). Job Summary The RN Clinical Nurse I provides professional nursing care through skillful assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with facility or department policies procedures, and/or protocols under the supervision of the nursing leader. Assists in maintaining a safe work environment and performs all related job responsibilities in a safe manner. Maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the population of patients served. Essential Functions * Collects data pertinent to the healthcare consumer's health or the situation. Physical Requirements Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Must speak English in good, understandable terms. Intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, and touch. Finger dexterity. Critical thinking and ability to concentrate. Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions. Physical Abilities Testing required. Education, Experience and Certifications. Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. BSN preferred. Current Basic Life Support required per policy guidelines. Current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner in the state in which you work and reside or; if declaring a National License Compact (NLC) state as your primary state of residency, meet the licensure requirements in your home state; or for Non-National License Compact states, current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner required in the state where the RN works.
