Remote RN - Gynecologic Oncology


Overview Remote Triage RN - Gynecologic Oncology Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and Research Center is seeking a Remote Triage RN to work with our gynecologic patients and surgeons. This triage nurse will assess patient needs over the telephone, collaborate with our physicians, APP's and other staff members to meet the needs of our patients. Documenting key clinical elements of each patient interaction in our EMR (IKnowMed-G2) and coordinating urgent needs are a key part of this role. The telephone triage nurse will accurately identify patients with high-risk conditions and direct care to the appropriate resources if they cannot immediately be managed by the nurse over the telephone. This position is a temporary position with a term of approximately 6 months. The general pay scale for this position is very competitive at $34.41-$54.40. The actual hiring rate is dependent on many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experience, education, job/position responsibilities, location, work performance, etc. Employment Type: 1.0 FTE (40 hr/week) Temporary: ~6 months Benefits: M/D/V, Life Ins., 401(k) Location: Remote Responsibilities * Addresses patient calls, portal messages and emails in a timely manner. * Asks appropriate open-ended questions as well as utilizing computerized algorithms/pathways to assist in the assessment of patient's symptoms and side effect management and documents interventions. Manages a wide range of symptoms. * Assesses urgency of patient symptoms/side effects and addresses them appropriately. * Aggressively manage symptoms to prevent unnecessary emergency department and hospital utilization. * If emergency care is needed, the triage nurse will collaborate with physicians/APP's via electronic communication or over the telephone to discuss each unique situation. * Collaborates with providers to schedule on-demand patient visits if symptoms or needs are appropriate for the outpatient setting. * Documents all conversations with patients to maintain a comprehensive medical record. * Provides clear instructions and educates patients about chemotherapy and pre/post-surgical procedures. * Other duties as assigned. Qualifications * Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred. * RN state license and current registration with the Oregon State Board of Nursing. * 3-5 years nursing experience including at least one year in oncology preferred. * Gynecology experience preferred. * Surgical experience preferred. * Current Basic Life Support (BLS) * Must maintain continuing education requirements.
