School Nurse - Incarnate Word High School


Apply Description Incarnate Word High School, an all-girls Catholic high school sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, seeks a School Nurse for the 2024-2025 school year. The school seeks to maintain a fully and authentically Catholic environment. REPORTS TO: This position reports to the Principal of Incarnate Word High School (IWHS). Health Services * First Aid and Emergency Care: Provide immediate care for injuries and illnesses, including administering first aid and medication. * Chronic Conditions: Manage chronic health conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes) and develop care plans in coordination with students' families and healthcare providers. * Health Screenings: Conduct routine health screenings (e.g., vision, hearing) and follow up on any concerns. Health Education * Programs and Workshops: Educate students, staff, and parents about health-related topics, including nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention. * Personal Health Guidance: Offer advice on maintaining a healthy lifestyle and managing health issues. Record Keeping * Maintain accurate and confidential health records for students, including immunization records and health history. * Incident Reports: Document incidents involving injuries or illnesses and communicate with parents and guardians as needed. Coordination and Collaboration * Care Coordination: Work with teachers, administrators, and other staff to support students' health needs and create a safe learning environment. * Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency health procedures and participate in drills and training. Policy and Compliance * Health Policies: Ensure compliance with school health policies, state regulations, and federal guidelines. * Understanding of the Mission of Incarnate Word High School. * Successful completion of VIRTUS and background check. Advocacy * Advocate for students' health needs within the school community. Requirements Experience * Previous experience in pediatric nursing, school health, or a related area is preferred. Skills * Strong clinical and assessment skills. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks. * Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices. Education * Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse. Must hold a Texas Nursing License and CPR/First Aid Certification.
