Hospice nurses are usually assigned to patients diagnosed with a terminal illness and six months or less to live. Their primary goal when providing treatment isn’t to extend the patient’s life but to keep them as comfortable as possible during the time remaining. Hospice Nurse Allie, a popular TikTok influencer, truly feels it’s an honor to serve as a hospice nurse and was drawn to hospice care from the beginning.
“Being a hospice nurse has been incredibly rewarding and challenged me to become a better nurse,” she said. “I always say hospice nursing is a hidden gem in the nursing world. Nursing school focuses on preparing nurses to work in a facility, but I think it’s important for nursing students and nurses to know there are other options where they can grow and thrive as a nurse.”
