NA-CLTM (ABRET) - Certification for NeuroAnalyst-CLTM

The NeuroAnalyst Certification for Long-Term Monitoring (NA-CLTM) is a specialized professional credential for healthcare professionals who focus on long-term monitoring of neurophysiological data, particularly in the context of neurological disorders. This certification, offered by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET), combines expertise in clinical neurophysiology with advanced analysis skills in long-term monitoring, such as in epilepsy monitoring units or during continuous EEG monitoring in intensive care units.

Eligibility

Pathway 1: 

• Bachelor’s degree or higher

• 2 years experience as a CLTM technologist

• Documented 50 technical reports

Pathway 2:

• 3 years experience as a CLTM technologist

• Documented 50 technical reports

• 50 advanced practice LTM continuing education units (CEUs)

Exam Format

Topics on the NA-CLTM exam include:

• Validating patient identification and recording period and reviewing patient history and clinical data and information (5%)

• Reviewing the technical description and recording parameters (5%)

• Analyzing, classifying, annotating and delineating the EEG and video data and evaluating seizure semiology based upon clinical and electrographic findings (70%)

• Writing a NeuroAnalyst Report (20%)

Candidates receive an email when their official exam results are uploaded into their online ABRET Credential Manager account approximately 3 to 4 weeks after the exam date.

Candidates who fail the exam must complete all steps of the application process, including paying the full exam fee to retake the exam. After 3 unsuccessful attempts, candidates must wait 6 months and submit 10 advanced practice CEUs.

NA-CLTM holders must recertify their credentials every 5 years. They must complete continuing education (CE) or may opt to retake the exam.

Renewal Fees

• $100 fee (CE route)

• $700 fee (Exam route)

Continuing education requirements include completing 50 hours of CE by the end of the 5-year certification period.
