The Clinical Social Worker in Gerontology (CSW-G) certification is a professional credential for social workers who specialize in working with older adults. Eligibility
Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from an accredited school
Minimum of 2 years (3,000 hours) paid post-MSW experience with older adults, under appropriate supervision, within the last 5 years
30 hours of continuing education (CE) on aging or relevant MSW specialization within 2 years of application
First-time applicants completing an MSW program within 5 years of application don’t need to fulfill CE requirement
Current state-issued clinical-level license or certification or recent Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Clinical-level exam
Adherence to the NASW Code of Ethics and the NASW Standards for Continuing Professional Education

Renewal
Renewal must occur every 2 years. To apply for renewal, applicants must:
Submit a copy of their current social work license
Complete continuing education
Complete renewal application with CE documented on the form
Submit renewal fee

$95 for all NASW members in good standing
$350 for nonmembers
Continuing Education
The continuing education requirement for CSW-G certification renewal is 20 contact hours within the past 2 years.
