The Certificate for OASIS Specialist-Clinical (COS-C) credential is for healthcare professionals specializing in home health. The COS-C exam is developed and administered by the OASIS Certificate & Competency Board (OCCB). Since 2004, it has been the premier, nationally standardized, psychometrically validated test to evaluate an individual's knowledge of home healthcare relating to CMS' OASIS guidelines. COS-C specialists who pass this certification exam demonstrate expertise and skills in OASIS regulations, data-collection time points, patient populations, data-collection conventions, and OASIS data set item-by-item guidance.

Course Format
Two Ways to Take the COS-C Exam
The COS-C examination is a 2.5-hour exam duration and contains 100 multiple-choice questions. Exam results are reported as Pass or Fail.
The scope of the COS-C exam includes CMS rules and instructions related to the OASIS time points, regulations, patient populations & OASIS item-specific scoring. The exam is open-book.
Certification
Professionals who may hold this certification include Home Health Nurses, Therapists or other home health specialists responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments, scoring OASIS items, auditing clinical records, and educating or orienting staff.
Renewal
The Certificate for OASIS Specialist-Clinical (COS-C) is valid for three years.
