The Certified Otorhinolaryngology Nurse (CORLN) certification, sponsored by the National Certifying Board of Otorhinolaryngology and Head-Neck Nurses (NCBOHN) on behalf of the Society of Otorhinolaryngology and Head-Neck Nurses (SOHN), is a professional credential for registered nurses (RNs) specializing in otorhinolaryngology, the study of ear, nose, and throat (ENT) disorders. This certification recognizes a nurse's expertise in providing care to patients with ENT conditions. The CORLN certification is designed for RNs who are involved in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients in otorhinolaryngology settings.

Course Format
Exam Format
Prometric administers the CORLN for the NCBOHN. The computer-based exam includes 250 multiple-choice, objective questions. Candidates have 3.5 hours to complete the exam. Coverage includes:

Candidates receive an email from Prometric within 4 weeks of the close of the testing period telling them whether they passed or failed.
The Certification Examination in Otorhinolaryngology and Head-Neck Nursing is administered daily during an established 2-week testing window, excluding holidays, at computer-based Prometric Testing Centers.

Renewal
The CORLN credential must be renewed every 5 years, with applications postmarked at least 2 months prior to the certification’s expiration date. Otherwise, renewal candidates must take the Certification Examination in Otorhinolaryngology and Head-Neck Nursing to maintain their credentials.

100 contact hours (CH) of continuing education (CE) related to otorhinolaryngology and head-neck nursing practice in a combination of the following:
CE programs, including workshops, seminars, professional development offerings, home-study courses and state or national conferences provided or approved by the SOHN or another organization accredited by the American Nurses Credential Center’s Commission on Accreditation
Maximum of 25 ENT-based Continuing Medication Education
10 points for an original clinical-referenced article published in ORL-Head and Neck Nursing (maximum of one article)
5 points each for national presentations at the SOHN spring or fall conferences (10 points max)
