About
The Certified Clinical Transplant Coordinator (CCTC) certification is a professional credential for nurses and healthcare professionals who specialize in organ transplantation coordination. This certification, administered by the American Board for Transplant Certification (ABTC), validates a professional's expertise in managing the clinical, administrative and educational aspects of organ transplantation. CCTCs play a critical role in patient care throughout the transplant process, from initial evaluation to post-transplant care.
Eligibility
12 months of clinical vascular organ coordinator work experience
Completion Time: 3 hours
Cost: $495 payable by credit card only, including $150 nonrefundable application fee
Course Format
Exam Format
The CCTC exam contains 150 scored questions and 25 unscored questions. These questions cover all aspects of transplant coordination and/or care as it relates to the following vascular organs: kidney, pancreas, liver, lung, intestine and heart, and transplants involving multiple organs at once. Candidates have 3 hours to complete the exam.
Candidates report to the Test Center Supervisor to receive their printed score report, indicating pass or fail. Passing candidates receive their CCTC credentials within 30 to 45 days.
Unsuccessful candidates may retake the exam once every 90 days. If a candidate fails three times, they must complete 20 Category 1 Continuing Education Points for Transplant Certification (CEPTCs) before they can reapply.
Candidates can take the CCTC exam at PSI Exams testing centers nationwide.

Acceptance valid 90 days from the date candidate is confirmed exam-eligible
Renewal
CCTC certification must be renewed every 3 years. Candidates may recertify their credentials in one of two ways:
Retaking and passing the CCTC exam
Attend continuing education courses to earn CEPTCs
Renewal Fees
Recertification of a single credential is $395
Maintaining dual or more certifications is $495
Continuing Education
The number of CEPTCs required for CCTC recertification through continuing education is 60.
