What is a Medical Tech?
Medical technicians are allied health professionals who specialize in analyzing specimens and performing tests on patients of all ages, then report the results as part of the diagnostic process. They generally work under the supervision of medical technologists or laboratory supervisors and play an integral role in the healthcare system behind the scenes. Entering the workforce can be accomplished relatively quickly because most medical technician programs only take about two years to complete. Medical technicians are usually in high demand due to shortages of skilled laboratory professionals and increased testing needs.
